Number 6 Fun Facts
Perfect numbers are rare. In mathematics, a 'perfect number' occurs when the following criteria are met:
- All the numbers divisors (excluding the number itself) are added, the sum equals the number itself (1+2+3=6).
- When the number itself is included and the sum is divided by 2, the result is the number itself ((1+2+3+6)/2=6).
Pythagoreans considered the number 6 to be the first 'perfect number'. Ancient Greeks recognized 4 perfect numbers: 6 – 28 – 496 – 8,128. Throughout history, perfect numbers have fascinated mathematicians and more perfect numbers have been discovered.
